Text  Quiz: Database

Purpose

As a college student, it's essential for you to be able to search and navigate the academic databases available to you. Databases hold peer-reviewed, highly credible, academic articles. Databases contain information on thousands of topics in the form of full-text articles, magazines, encyclopedias, and film. KCC provides free access to 8 different databases for students to use for research throughout their KCC college career. You can access these databases through MyKCC (login and select LRC at the top.)

When searching through databases, you will see something called a "Boolean Search". A Boolean search is a type of search that allows you to combine keywords such as "Klamath Falls" and "Restaurants".  Another term you will see is a "Boolean Search Operator." An operator is just a modifier - a connecting word such as "and, or, not." So, if you are looking for information in the EBSCO database and want to use the advanced search feature, it will ask me for input using Boolean parameters.
