Instructions
Canvas allows you to upload and embed images into the content of your course, and then style them using the Design Plus menu.
Adding and Customizing Images
To add an image follow the below steps.
Step 1: Edit the Page
- Create the new item by clicking the +Page. If it's an existing page click the Edit button. Both are in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 2: Launch the Upload/Embed Image tools
NOTE: Before you proceed be sure your cursor is in the spot you'd like your image to go.
- Click the blue V in the rich content editor at the top of the page
- Select the Upload/Embed Image tool from the menu
Step 3: Select and Crop your Image
- Choose the image from your computer you would like to add to your course
- Drag the corners of the blue box crop portions of the photo you don't want to include
- Select the blue Crop Image button
Step 4: Title and Embed your Image
- Rename the file (optional)
- Select the Upload and Embed button to insert the image into your course.
Step 5: Launch Design Plus
- Mouse over the little rocket in the far upper right corner of the screen. When it expands, click on it.
Step 6: Customize your Image
NOTE: Be sure the newly inserted image on your page is selected
- Click on Customize the Style
- Select the Current Element Style dropdown menu
- Select the options you'd like to use to customize the look of your image
Replacing your Homepage Banner
Follow the below steps to replace your Banner with another stock banner image
Step 1: Edit the Homepage
- Navigate to your course home page and click the Edit button in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 2: Launch Design Plus
- Mouse over the little rocket in the far upper right corner of the screen. When it expands, click on it.
Step 3: Choose a New Banner
- Click Create/Edit Content in the menu
- Click Choose a Banner Image from the menu
- Scroll down to Course Front Page Banners and select the Banner Image you'd like to replace yours with.
NOTE: More stock options will be added to provide more options.
