Overview
This release includes updates to the table tools and a few other additions and tweaks. Read on to learn more.
Updated or Modified Features
New Table Controls
The April 30th Canvas release included some updates to the rich content editor. One of these updates changed the default styling and widths of tables. The table tools have been updated to help counteract some of these changes.
Updates
The toggle switches were replaced by checkboxes to take up less space and the following features have been added:
- Head Column - set the first column of a table to be a heading column
- Table Caption - add a caption to the current table. "While they are not required in every case to meet WCAG 2.0, captions and summaries are fairly straightforward ways to provide such information that is often needed." - w3.org Links to an external site.
- Clear All Widths - This button will clear the widths of the table and all of its cells
- Column Widths - This portion will create a control for each column where you can set the width of that column in percent or pixels
The table styles have also been updated to provide a larger top border for the foot row of a table (see examples below).

Due Date Modifier - Default Times
Using the Due Date Modifier inside of the Multi-Tool, users can now set default times that will be used when setting new assignment dates.
Updating Syllabus Policies on Edit
Policy blocks inside the syllabus will now update when editing the syllabus, whether or not a user opens Design Tools.
116 New Icons and keyword/category updates
Font Awesome will be upgraded to the latest version which includes 116 new icons. Extensive work has also been put in to enter keywords and categories for icons to improve search results.

- Genders (moved into Symbols but still searchable as genders)
- Medical and Health combined to Medical/Health
- Spinners (removed from list but still searchable)
New Icons
A Note about Canvas Icon Support
Design Tools endeavors to make the Canvas Icons visible in the mobile app. For a time this appeared to be broken but is working again. With Canvas continually updating and changing their icons, the Canvas icons will be added to the mobile app as long as possible but continued support is dependent on changes in Canvas.
Basic Navigation Links List Style
The Ordered/Unordered List tool has been updated to include a Basic Nav Links option. This list style will take a list of links and transform it into a basic navigation list like follows:
The pipe character "|" is added with CSS and the spacing is applied to the links for easier clicking..
