Cidi Labs Design Tools Release Notes

Overview

A few updates and bug fixes but this release also includes the code that will enable users to switch between the current DesignPLUS sidebar and the new DesignPLUS sidebar once an institution has opted to make the new sidebar available.

DesignPLUS Next Generation Update

Rather than copying information from one release note to the next, we have created a Next Generation Design Tools Sidebar Progress page that you can bookmark to keep an eye on progress.

New Features

Version Switching

Once institutions have updated their code to allow access to the new DesignPLUS Sidebar (more information on how to do this coming soon) users will be able to switch back and forth between the legacy sidebar and the new sidebar as needed.

Updated or Modified Features

Enhanced Duplicate JavaScript Detection

Additional enhancements have been made to detect when the DesignPLUS JavaScript gets added multiple times to Canvas. This is typically a result of creating a new Canvas theme at the sub-account level where Canvas duplicates all of the CSS and JS from the parent account.

User Decision Hidden Gem - Clear Decision

The User Decision Hidden Gem now includes the ability to create a link/button to clear out previous decisions including locked decisions.

Icon Updates

A few Font Awesome updates:

  • The Adobe icon was removed due to a legal request to Font Awesome from Adobe

Multi Tool and UEI data for Cidiscape

The Multi Tool and Upload/Embed Image tool have been updated so that usage data will be gathered to make available through our upcoming Cidiscape tool.

Bug Fixes

Page Import Hidden Gem 

If used in a list item, the page import hidden gem would get stuck in a loop because it could not replace the parent paragraph with the page content. The page import will now be replaced with a notice for admins or teachers that it is not in a paragraph. Students would just see the link to the page.
