How to Fix It

The YouTube Captions Scanning Unavailable error occurs when UDOIT has reached its daily limit for API calls to YouTube. The API is what UDOIT uses to retrieve captions and transcript information from YouTube videos. Once the daily limit is reached, UDOIT cannot scan any additional videos until the limit resets at the end of the day.

If you see this error, try again the next day. In the meantime, you can use the preview feature to watch the video and check whether captions are available and accurate. Review the "How to Fix It" section of Video Captions Are Missing for more information.

Are you a UDOIT Admin?

UDOIT Advantage checks YouTube videos for the presence of captions, determines whether they are auto-generated, and checks to see if they match the course language. However, Google limits the number of video caption checks that can be done per day through a single API key. Due to the volume of YouTube videos at some of our customer institutions, we (Cidi Labs) often reach this limit on our API key, which then prevents some of our customers from scanning additional YouTube videos.
